The Battery’s Running Low

photoI’m writing today from Colorado.  I’ve been sitting on the patio of my hotel since a little after 5 AM – watching the mountains morph from the darkness of nothing to bastions of protection ‘from whence my help cometh.’

And my battery’s running low.  Actually, truth be told, my battery is nearly dead.  It doesn’t last long these days.  Apparently, Toshiba has known  much longer than I that the time has come to replace the battery – because if it isn’t plugged into a direct power source, it gives me a flashing light of doom, regardless of how deeply charged it appears to be.

Marinating on that today.  My battery is running low.  The difference between me and Toshiba?  No matter how low my battery runs, it will never die.

We are pressed on every side by troubles, but we are not crushed. We are perplexed, but not driven to despair.  We are hunted down, but never abandoned by God. We get knocked down, but we are not destroyed.  Through suffering, our bodies continue to share in the death of Jesus so that the life of Jesus may also be seen in our bodies.   2 Corinthians 4:8-10
