#fail friday: the video that lost more than I did

Four years ago I auditioned for NBC’s The Biggest Loser. I thought they were my last and only hope for finally conquering my demons. I got to a final round of callbacks before I was cut. I was devoured in that one simple phone call filled with disappointment. This is my audition video from 2009. And as I re-watched it, I realized….I haven’t lost all the weight, but I definitely have lost the crazy! It’s a journey to wholeness….and I’m excited to be on it.

I've been in student ministry nearly 30 years…which generally just confirms how much I still don't know. Some days I'm the pizza-eating, over-responding, teaching-on-the-fly, desperate-for-volunteers, frustrated-with-co-workers youth leader that we all are. And sometimes…I knock it out of the park. I'm everywhere on social media that you are!

  1. Personally I love your craziness, don’t ever lose that part of you. I really enjoyed the video…very creative! They should have chosen you.

  2. Darren, I known you since we were middle school kids and sometimes its a life-long struggle for each of us to find our authentic self. You are still very much the “Darren” I knew as a kid, and I applaud your efforts! Sometimes we need a little bit of crazy to get through, enjoy your life for what it is and know that you are loved for who you are!
    Wishing you luck in everything,
    Suz
